This is the central article devoted to the dCache Administration Workshop during the GridKa School in 2009.
Time Table
| 11:00 | Introduction to dCache, held by Christoph Anton Mitterer
Gives an overview on dCache, its history and application areas, its basic functionality and special features, its structure and main components as well as typical cluster setups and data access models. |
| 11:30 | dCache within grids, held by Christoph Anton Mitterer
Gives some brief notes on grid-specific concepts, techniques, tools and clients that are important for using dCache within a grid (for example the LCG) and that will be referenced in later chapters. |

| 13:00 | Setting up VirtualBox, held by Xavier Mol
Throughout the whole hands-on sessions you will work with a virtual machine preferably set up with VirtualBox on your own workstation. However, for all who cannot use one for any reason, we offer a limited number of thin clients. During this hour you will install VirtualBox and create a virtual machine as preparation for the upcoming sessions. |

Describes the typical installation-procedure for a dCache cluster, including its external dependencies, the core-services and the file hierarchy provider, the creation of pools as well as the selection of dCache components. |

Covers the concepts and means of selecting pools for client read and write accesses as well as their configuration. |

Gives a basic overview on access control systems within dCache as well as their configuration. |

Gives an introduction to the concepts and configuration of space management and space tokens. |
